When paired with Spot, the MFE Detect MW (MFE OGI) leverages the robot’s mobility to automate routine inspection tasks. When further inspection is required, the camera can be removed from Spot and used as a handheld device.
The MFE Detect MW is powered by the compact, high-capacity SmallRig VB50 lithium-ion battery. Its lightweight design is approximately 30% smaller than traditional V-mount batteries, making it easy to carry in the field.
The VB50 also features a practical OLED display that tracks the battery’s operating status and provides users with precise, up-to-date battery information.
Utilizing a state-of-the-art 640 × 512, 15 μm pixel-pitch “Hot MWIR” detector array, the MFE Detect MW (MFE OGI) features a specialized narrow-bandpass cold filter, miniature long-life closed-cycle Stirling cooler, f/1.5 cold shield, and optimized purpose-built lens to provide unmatched thermal sensitivity.
The MFE Detect MW also includes a built-in RGB camera and a suite of advanced image-processing functions, including automatic gain and dynamic contrast control, delivering visual acuity for efficient leak detection and remediation.
The MFE OGI 640 is the UAV-integrated version of the MFE OGI MW system, offering the same advanced optical gas imaging technology in a lightweight drone payload designed for aerial platforms. It delivers high-resolution detection of hydrocarbon gas leaks with the flexibility and reach of drone-based inspections.
