Two Types of Skydio X2s—The Color and the Color/Thermal

The Skydio X2 comes in two models: the Color and the Color/Thermal.

Both drones have the same visual camera. The key difference between them is that the Skydio X2 Color/Thermal also carries a thermal camera, allowing you to capture and analyze heat signatures in addition to standard visual data.

This dual capability makes the Skydio X2 Color/Thermal especially valuable for applications requiring both visual and thermal inspections, such as search and rescue, infrastructure inspection, and environmental monitoring.

Skydio X2 Color / Thermal

The dual-sensor payload includes a 12MP color camera and FLIR® 320×256 thermal Imaging sensor. The Skydio X2 enables enterprises, first responders, and civilian agencies to safely ramp their drone fleets with minimal training. Designed, assembled, and supported in the USA, X2 provides a trusted, high-quality supply chain security.

The Skydio X2 Color / Thermal is designed for advanced aerial imaging and surveillance with a focus on delivering both high-quality color images and high-quality thermal images.

X2 Color / Thermal overview:

  • Wireless range: 3.7 miles (6 km)
  • Flight time: 35 minutes
  • Cybersecurity: AES-128 wireless encryption
  • Visual camera: Sony IMX577 1/2.3” 12.3MP CMOS

Here’s an overview for the thermal camera:

  • Thermal sensor type: FLIR Uncooled VOx microbolometer
  • Thermal resolution: 320×256.
  • Thermal lens focal length: 9.1mm.
  • Thermal frame rate: 30fps.
