Simplify Gemini Sonar Installation

Deploying a multibeam imaging sonar involves more than simply connecting a cable. Reliable communications, appropriate power delivery, and straightforward integration all contribute to efficient installation and dependable sonar performance in the field.

Gemini Sonar Interface Units are designed to simplify this process.

Supplied with AC-to-DC power adapters, deck/test cables, and connector tails for installation, these interface units provide many of the components needed to connect a Gemini sonar to a topside computer for testing or deployment.

Whether preparing a sonar in the workshop or integrating it into an operational system, these interface units help reduce setup time while providing a clean, organized installation workflow.

Choose Ethernet or VDSL Communications for Your Deployment

Gemini multibeam imaging sonars can operate using either Ethernet or VDSL communications, letting operators select the interface configuration that best matches their inspection system.

For installations equipped with fiber-optic multiplexers, Ethernet communication often provides the simplest solution. Where communications must travel over copper conductors—such as many ROV installations—the VDSL interface provides reliable data transmission while supporting Gemini sonar operation over significantly longer cable runs.

Remotely Power Gemini Sonars Across Extended Cable Lengths

Some subsea deployments can’t provide local power at the sonar itself. In these situations, supplying both communications and power through a single extended cable can simplify installation while expanding deployment flexibility.

The optional 72V VDSL Interface Unit is designed specifically for these applications. By transmitting both power and VDSL communications over long standalone cable runs, the system allows Gemini sonars to operate where local subsea power is unavailable.

Complete Installation Hardware for Faster System Integration

Beyond their communication capabilities, the Gemini Sonar Interface Units include several practical features that simplify deployment and day-to-day operation.

Key features include:

  • Available in Ethernet, Basic VDSL, and 72V VDSL configurations
  • AC-to-DC power adapter for bench testing and operation
  • Deck/test cable supplied for convenient system verification
  • Connector tails for simplified installation
  • Rugged sealed aluminum enclosure with industrial connectors for reliable offshore operation
