Inspecting underwater infrastructure isn’t easy. Visibility can drop to zero, currents make it difficult to stay on target, and sending divers into deep or hazardous environments can be risky, slow, and expensive.
When critical assets like pipelines, dams, ship hulls, or aquaculture systems need to be inspected, teams need a reliable way to see clearly, gather accurate information, and complete the job without putting people in danger.
The Deep Trekker SPECTRA ROV gives operators a smarter way to tackle these challenges. This advanced remotely operated vehicle allows teams to safely explore, inspect, and document underwater environments with exceptional clarity and control.
Instead of relying on limited visuals or risky dive operations, inspectors can capture detailed data, map complex structures, and confidently assess asset conditions—even in dark, deep, or murky water.
The Deep Trekker SPECTRA ROV is built to operate where most underwater inspection tools simply can’t. With a 1,000-meter (3,280 ft) depth rating, the system allows operators to safely reach deep offshore assets, submerged infrastructure, and full-depth aquaculture moorings without the cost and logistical complexity typically associated with large work-class ROV systems.
Once deployed, SPECTRA’s 300,000-lumen synchronized lighting system illuminates environments that would otherwise be completely dark or heavily obscured by turbid water.
Dual high-output LED arrays track with the camera to flood inspection areas with light, transforming murky underwater conditions into clear, usable visual data so operators can confidently identify defects, document structures, and complete inspections in the most challenging environments.
The Deep Trekker SPECTRA ROV combines 3D Sonar SLAM (Simultaneous Localization & Mapping) with a 4K 60 FPS stereo camera system to give operators a new level of awareness and measurement accuracy underwater.
The onboard SLAM technology continuously interprets the surrounding environment, generating real-time 3D point-cloud maps that allow operators to track inspection coverage, navigate complex structures, and maintain orientation even in zero-visibility or murky water.
At the same time, the rotating 180° stereo camera captures 12 MP imagery, enabling scaled photogrammetry with up to 1% measurement accuracy.
This allows teams to extract precise dimensions, build 3D digital twins of underwater assets, and perform reliable year-over-year comparisons to monitor structural changes or deterioration.
The Deep Trekker SPECTRA ROV is engineered to maintain stability and precision in environments where smaller ROVs struggle.
Its seven oil-compensated brushless thrusters, including four vectored and three vertical units, deliver up to 40 kg (88 lbs) of thrust, allowing the vehicle to maintain strong station keeping and maneuver confidently in fast moving currents.
With operating speeds of up to 4.0 knots forward and 3.0 knots laterally, operators can maintain precise positioning during detailed inspections so cameras and sensors remain focused on critical assets.
To further expand its operational capability, SPECTRA features a modular design with a heavy payload capacity that supports a wide range of specialized inspection and intervention tools.
Operators can equip the system with devices such as ultrasonic thickness gauges, cathodic protection probes, grabbers, and cleaning tools, transforming the ROV into a versatile underwater work platform.
This modular architecture also enables rapid field serviceability, allowing components to be replaced quickly in the field to minimize downtime and keep critical missions moving.
The Deep Trekker SPECTRA ROV is purpose-built to fill the gap between small observation class ROVs and large, complex work class systems.
Traditionally, organizations had to choose between lightweight platforms with limited capability or massive work class ROVs that require large crews, specialized launch equipment, and significant operational budgets.
SPECTRA bridges this gap by delivering work-class stability, tooling capability, and advanced inspection intelligence in a compact and portable platform.
Weighing approximately 38 kg (84 lbs), the system can be deployed faster and with far fewer logistical requirements than traditional work class vehicles, allowing teams to conduct deep-water inspections, subsea surveys, and maintenance tasks without the heavy infrastructure normally required.
This combination of capability and portability enables organizations to perform high-end underwater inspection and intervention work more efficiently and cost effectively.
The Deep Trekker SPECTRA ROV enables operators to move beyond basic underwater video and capture precise spatial data of submerged assets.
Using 3D Sonar SLAM (Simultaneous Localization & Mapping), the system continuously interprets its surroundings and generates real-time point-cloud maps, giving operators a clear understanding of complex underwater environments.
This capability allows inspection teams to safely navigate around structures, maintain orientation in low or zero visibility water, and track exactly which areas have already been surveyed.
Paired with a 4K 60 FPS rotating stereo camera system, SPECTRA can perform scaled photogrammetry with up to 1% measurement accuracy.
The system captures high-resolution 12 MP imagery that can be used to extract precise measurements, build detailed 3D digital twins of underwater infrastructure, and document asset conditions over time.
This allows operators to perform accurate dimensional analysis, monitor structural changes, and compare inspection data year after year to identify degradation before it becomes a costly failure.
The Deep Trekker SPECTRA ROV combines deep-water capability, powerful illumination, advanced navigation, and precision measurement tools into a single portable platform designed for complex underwater missions.
With the ability to operate at significant depths, maintain stability in challenging currents, and capture accurate inspection data, SPECTRA allows teams to safely inspect, document, and analyze critical submerged infrastructure with greater confidence and efficiency.
Whether you’re performing offshore inspections, infrastructure assessments, or search and recovery operations, SPECTRA provides the control, visibility, and data quality needed to make informed decisions underwater. ‘
