Polatrak CP Gun
The Polatrak CP Gun is a diver-held cathodic protection (CP) testing probe designed to verify cathodic protection on submerged metallic assets.
Twin reference electrodes, bright LED readouts, and interchangeable freshwater and seawater electrodes make the CP Gun a dependable solution for routine cathodic protection inspections on offshore structures, pipelines, vessels, and other submerged assets.

Verify Underwater Cathodic Protection with the Polatrak CP Gun
Regular cathodic protection surveys help operators verify that corrosion protection systems continue performing as intended, allowing potential problems to be identified before corrosion leads to costly asset damage. But collecting reliable underwater measurements can be challenging when visibility is poor and dive time is limited.
The Polatrak CP Gun is designed specifically for these inspections. Its self-contained, diver-held design allows operators to collect contact CP measurements without topside instrumentation, while integrated displays provide immediate underwater readings to help complete surveys efficiently and confidently.
Reliable Cathodic Protection Measurements with Twin Electrode Technology
Accurate cathodic protection measurements are essential for verifying that submerged assets are receiving adequate corrosion protection. If a reference electrode fails during a dive, inspections may need to be repeated, increasing dive time and operational costs.
The Polatrak CP Gun uses dual replaceable silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrodes to provide built-in redundancy and real-time calibration. If one electrode fails, the second allows the survey to continue, while the twin-element design helps verify measurement consistency throughout the inspection.
Bright LED Readouts for Low-Visibility Underwater Inspections
Underwater visibility often changes throughout a dive due to suspended sediment, marine growth, or naturally dark conditions.
The CP Gun features bright, backlit LED displays that remain easy to read in low-visibility conditions. Because the readouts are fully self-contained, divers can confirm measurements immediately underwater without relying on topside equipment, helping inspections move more efficiently.
Long Battery Life and Field-Serviceable Design
Offshore inspection equipment must withstand repeated deployments while remaining easy to maintain between dives.
The Polatrak CP Gun uses two standard 9V batteries that provide up to 150 hours of continuous operation, while the integrated on/off switch helps extend battery life during routine surveys. Its rugged, field-serviceable design also allows worn components to be replaced individually, simplifying maintenance and reducing long-term ownership costs.
Freshwater and Seawater Flexibility
Not every cathodic protection survey takes place offshore. Marine terminals, inland waterways, dams, reservoirs, and other freshwater environments require different reference electrodes to produce accurate measurements.
The Polatrak CP Gun supports both seawater and freshwater inspections through interchangeable reference electrodes. Standard silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrodes are used for seawater applications, while optional copper/copper sulfate (Cu/CuSO₄) elements allow the same instrument to be used in freshwater and brackish environments.
This flexibility enables organizations inspecting both marine and inland assets to standardize on a single cathodic protection testing platform.
