ARIS Rotator AR2 Package

The ARIS Rotator AR2 Package expands the capabilities of the ARIS Explorer 3000 imaging sonar by providing precise, motorized control over the sonar’s orientation during underwater inspections.

Designed for remote operation, the AR2 allows operators to adjust the sonar’s position without manually repositioning the entire deployment, helping capture more complete imagery of underwater assets.

Improve Underwater Sonar Coverage with the ARIS Rotator AR2

The ARIS Explorer 3000 delivers high-resolution acoustic imagery—but many underwater inspections require operators to examine an asset from multiple angles. Without a way to remotely reposition the sonar, teams may need to physically adjust the deployment or accept limited coverage, slowing inspections and increasing operational complexity.

The ARIS Rotator AR2 Package addresses this challenge by adding motorized positioning to the ARIS Explorer. Operators can remotely adjust the sonar’s orientation during an inspection, making it easier to capture comprehensive imagery of structures like ship hulls, offshore platforms, dam faces, bridge foundations, and other submerged assets.

Precise Two-Axis Positioning for Better Inspection Control

The ARIS Rotator AR2 provides precise two-axis positioning, allowing operators to remotely adjust the sonar’s orientation as inspection conditions change. Instead of manually repositioning equipment, users can quickly redirect the sonar toward areas of interest, improving efficiency during underwater inspections.

The system supports both pan/tilt and tilt/roll operating modes, giving inspection teams the flexibility to adapt to different assets and inspection objectives.

Switch Between Pan/Tilt and Tilt/Roll Imaging

Different underwater inspections require different viewing perspectives. While conventional positioning may be sufficient for many applications, inspecting complex geometry often requires viewing an asset from multiple angles.
  • In pan/tilt mode, the AR2 rotates through a full 360° to image the surrounding environment from a fixed deployment location.
  • In tilt/roll mode, operators can adjust the sonar’s roll angle to capture alternative perspectives, including horizontal and vertical imaging orientations.

Rolling the sonar can also provide a more three-dimensional understanding of underwater features, helping reveal details that may be less apparent from a single viewing angle.

Capture More Complete Underwater Coverage

Repositioning sonar equipment can slow underwater inspections, particularly in offshore environments or locations with limited access. The AR2 reduces that need by allowing operators to remotely adjust the sonar’s orientation, helping capture more inspection data from a single deployment.

This expanded positioning capability is valuable across a wide range of underwater applications, including hull inspections, underwater construction monitoring, and  environmental monitoring. Capturing broader coverage without repeatedly moving equipment can help you improve inspection efficiency while reducing interruptions to the workflow.

Simple Integration with the ARIS Explorer 3000

The ARIS Rotator AR2 is designed specifically for the ARIS Explorer 3000, making it easy to incorporate into existing sonar inspection workflows. Both the sonar and rotator operate through a single standard cable, helping simplify deployment while minimizing additional equipment requirements.

Operators can control the AR2 manually or automate positioning through the intuitive ARIScope software interface, allowing precise adjustments throughout an inspection.
