Houston, TX, June 9, 2026\u2014Today, MFE Inspection Solutions announces the launch of a robotic gas detection solution that integrates Blackline Safety\u2019s cloud-connected portable detector with Boston Dynamics’ Spot\u00ae robot. The solution extends connected gas detection into robotic workflows, instantly delivering gas readings, alerts, and location data to remote monitoring teams to help keep personnel safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cGas detection is critical for safety. And teams are no longer limited to collecting that data only when a person enters the area,\u201d said Jason Acerbi, CTO and VP of USA at MFE Inspection Solutions. \u201cRobots like Spot are already being used to collect inspection data remotely in hazardous environments. Our new solution adds real-time gas detection to those workflows, giving operators insight into gas hazards before deciding how and when to send people in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Industrial gas monitoring<\/a> has traditionally relied on personal monitors worn by workers. Connected gas detection provides a new model, giving teams access to gas data from multiple sources\u2014personal monitors, area monitors, and remote systems like robots or drones<\/a>\u2014with live, detailed views of atmospheric conditions to help organizations make faster decisions. The MFE Spot Connected Gas Detection Solution extends connected safety into robotic workflows, allowing teams to monitor gas conditions remotely without endangering personnel.<\/p>\n

The solution lets operators view gas readings and alerts in Blackline Safety\u2019s Blackline Live software directly on the Spot tablet, providing real-time awareness in the field. It also triggers automated return-to-home actions when defined gas thresholds\u2014such as rising LEL<\/a>\u2014are detected, helping teams move Spot out of hazardous conditions and protect site personnel.
