Cygnus DIVE Mk3 UTG Kit for Wrist-Mounted Underwater Thickness Measurement in Diver Inspections

Inspecting metal structures underwater isn’t easy. Divers often have to deal with poor visibility, thick gloves, strong currents, and limited bottom time—all while trying to collect accurate thickness measurements on corroded steel.

Traditional inspection methods can be slow, require surface preparation, or make it difficult for the diver to manage tools while working in tight or hazardous environments. The Cygnus DIVE Mk3 UTG Kit is built specifically to solve these challenges.

Designed as a wrist-mounted ultrasonic thickness gauge, it allows divers to measure metal thickness quickly and reliably while keeping one hand free to stabilize themselves or operate other equipment.

With clear, easy-to-read data and simple controls designed for underwater use, it helps inspection teams gather dependable corrosion data without slowing down the dive.

Wrist-Mounted Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge with Hands-Free Operation and Automatic Data Logging

The Cygnus DIVE Mk3 features a wrist-mountable design that allows divers to keep one hand free while performing underwater thickness inspections.

Instead of juggling multiple tools, the diver can stabilize themselves on structures, manage positioning, and operate the ultrasonic probe with greater control in challenging conditions such as strong currents, confined spaces, or poor visibility.

This hands-free setup reduces fatigue and makes it easier to work efficiently during demanding subsea inspections.

The gauge also includes an Auto-Log data logging feature that automatically records stable thickness readings without the diver needing to press any buttons.

It can store up to 5,000 measurement points along with A-scan data, helping ensure critical inspection data is captured during the dive.

By eliminating the need to manually record measurements underwater, this feature reduces the risk of missed readings and allows divers to focus on accurate probe placement while maximizing limited dive time.

Multiple Echo Ultrasonic Measurement with Bright Color LCD and Live A-Scan Display

The Cygnus DIVE Mk3 uses multiple-echo ultrasonic measurement technology to deliver accurate thickness readings on coated or corroded metal surfaces.

By analyzing multiple sound echoes, the gauge can measure metal thickness while ignoring protective coatings up to 20 mm (0.8 in) thick. This allows divers to inspect assets without grinding or scraping away coatings, saving significant time during underwater inspections.

For heavily corroded or pitted materials, the gauge also supports Single-Echo and Echo-Echo measurement modes, helping inspectors obtain reliable readings even on challenging surfaces.

To make measurements easy to verify underwater, the gauge features a bright 2.8 inch color LCD display with large 15 mm high numbers and a live A-scan view. The screen is designed to remain clearly visible in dark or low-visibility water and can be viewed by both the diver and inspection cameras.

The live A-scan provides visual confirmation of the ultrasonic signal, helping divers validate readings quickly and improving confidence in the collected inspection data.

Cygnus DIVE Mk3 UTG Kit with Measurement Stability Indicator and Simple Two-Button Diver Controls

The Cygnus DIVE Mk3 includes a measurement stability indicator (MSI) that helps divers confirm when a thickness reading is stable and reliable.

This built-in verification system works during single-echo and echo-echo measurement modes, giving the operator clear feedback that the probe has proper contact and the measurement can be trusted.

In underwater environments where corrosion, pitting, or poor probe positioning can affect readings, MSI removes the guesswork and helps prevent inaccurate data from being recorded during critical inspections.

To make operation as simple as possible underwater, the gauge also features an intuitive two-button navigation system. Divers can quickly access settings and measurement modes without navigating complicated menus.

This streamlined control design makes the device easy to operate while wearing thick diving gloves and reduces the cognitive load on divers working at depth, where factors such as nitrogen narcosis can make complex equipment difficult to use.

Topside Repeater with Real-Time Video Overlay and Helmet-Mounted Remote Display

The Cygnus DIVE Mk3 supports real-time monitoring through an optional topside repeater (TSR) that connects to the gauge via an umbilical cable. This remote display allows the surface team to view thickness measurements live while the diver performs the inspection.

The TSR can also overlay measurement data directly onto a composite video signal, enabling engineers and inspectors to see the exact measurement location alongside the live camera feed.

This capability improves communication between the diver and topside personnel and allows inspection footage with thickness data to be recorded for documentation and reporting.

For environments where visibility is extremely limited, the system can also connect to the optional HelmetView remote display, which mounts directly to compatible diving helmets such as Kirby Morgan helmets.

This display places the thickness reading directly within the diver’s line of sight, allowing them to monitor measurements even when they cannot see their wrist gauge due to muddy water or disturbed silt.

By keeping critical inspection data visible at all times, HelmetView helps divers work more efficiently and maintain accurate measurements in zero-visibility conditions.

Long-Lasting Battery and Rugged Diver-Ready Probes for Reliable Underwater Inspections

The Cygnus DIVE Mk3 is built for dependable performance during demanding underwater inspections, featuring a rechargeable 3.6V lithium-ion battery that delivers up to 10 hours of continuous operation on a single charge. This extended battery life helps prevent interruptions during long inspection dives and allows teams to collect large volumes of thickness data without worrying about power loss.

The system is also equipped with rugged, diver-optimized probes and bright yellow polyurethane jacketed cables designed for durability, visibility, and flexibility underwater. The coiled cables stretch easily without tangling, while automatic probe zeroing allows the gauge to configure itself quickly so divers can begin measuring without time-consuming setup.

Together, these features help ensure reliable performance in harsh subsea environments while reducing delays caused by fragile equipment or complex calibration procedures. If you are looking for a dependable solution for underwater ultrasonic thickness measurement, the Cygnus DIVE Mk3 provides the durability, efficiency, and ease of use needed to keep inspections moving.
